ZHENGZHOU, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Schools in China are ramping up anti-virus measures while welcoming the fall semester starting from Sept. 1.
Zhu Jiali, a primary school student from Weiwu Road No.1 Primary School of Zhengzhou, capital city of central China's Henan Province, welcomed his new school year in a special way, with the opening ceremony of the new semester held online.
Henan saw a resurgence of COVID-19 in late July. After Zhengzhou cleared all its COVID-19 medium- and high-risk areas on Aug. 28, it instructed all its middle and elementary schools to adopt online courses from Sept. 1 to 15.
For primary school students like Zhu Jiali, classes will start at 9 o'clock in the morning. Each class will last for 30 minutes. After finishing 4 classes in the morning, students will have a long break at noon. During this time, students can have lunch or take a nap, and the other 2 classes will start at 2:40 pm.
