Albania defeat San Marino in World Cup qualifier

TIRANA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Albanian national football team eased past San Marino 5-0 in the European World Cup Group I qualifications on Wednesday in a match totally dominated by the host.

Playing in Elbasan Arena stadium in the city of Elbasan, central Albania, with a 72 percent possession, Albania opened the scoring in the 32nd minute as forward Rey Manaj converted an assist from midfielder Keidi Bare, which was confirmed by the VAR.

Manaj was then flagged twice on 35 and 45 minutes, as both of his attempts were canceled for being offside.

In the 58th minute, midfielder Qazim Laci used an assist from forward Armando Broja to find the net of San Marino, taking the score to 2-0.

Broja scored the third in the 61st minute with an assist from midfielder Odise Roshi, whose another assist was turned into a fourth goal by defender Elseid Hysaj at 68th minute, before forward Myrto Uzuni sealed the score 5-0 with an assist from Broja 12 minutes later.

With this victory, a second consecutive one, Albania ranks second in Group I with 12 points following England which has 16 points. Enditem
