ADEN, Yemen, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Forces loyal to Yemen's government aborted an attack launched by the Houthi militia in the country's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah on Sunday, a military official told Xinhua.

A group of Houthi fighters attempted to attack the government forces stationed in Tuhyata district in Hodeidah's southern side, but the pro-government forces foiled their attack, the official said on condition of anonymity.

He confirmed that nearly six Houthi militants were killed and several others injured by the pro-government forces.

However, no information about casualties among the pro-government soldiers was given during the exchange of fire with the Houthi rebels in Hodeidah.

Hodeidah is under the control of the Houthis, while the government forces have advanced to the southern and eastern districts. Enditem
