HONG KONG, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong reported zero increase in COVID-19 cases on Thursday for the second time in two weeks, with the tally of total confirmed infections still at 12,149.

Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection said 41 new cases were found over the past two weeks, all imported.

As the epidemic situation remained contained, non-Hong Kong residents in Guangdong Province and the Macao Special Administrative Region from Wednesday are allowed to come to Hong Kong under a quarantine-free travel scheme. To be qualified for the scheme, they should have not stayed in places other than Hong Kong, Guangdong or Macao in the past 14 days.

More than 300 people arrived in Hong Kong under the scheme by 6:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday.

Hong Kong's vaccination drive is making steady progress. Since the launch of the government inoculation program in late February, some 4.37 million people, or 64.8 percent of the eligible population, have taken at least one shot of the vaccines, while around 3.88 million have been fully vaccinated.
