SHARJAH, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese midfielder Yin Hongbo and goalkeeper Dong Chunyu have suffered minor injuries due to intense training.

The duo missed Wednesday's outfield training of the Chinese side, who set up a training camp in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates to prepare for their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Vietnam scheduled on October 7.

They instead stayed at hotel gym doing some indoor training with a team doctor.

The Chinese players are being put through demanding training, said defender Zhu Chenjie.

"We were too worn out to speak after training sessions which were really hard," he said.

Intense training and rigorous life begin to take their toll on the players, with Yin and Dong added to the team injury list, which also includes veteran Zhang Linpeng who twisted his waist in China's 1-0 loss to Japan on September 7 in Doha.

After China lost their first two games of the final stage of the Asia World Cup qualification, to Australia and Japan respectively, their head coach Li Tie vowed to work his players into better shape before facing Vietnam.

"My players will have a very hard time as they will have to train very hard for the following 30 days," he said after his side's defeat to Japan.

"We need to raise their physical conditions up a notch before playing our third game (against Vietnam)," he said. Enditem
