KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- A war-damaged cotton processing factory reopened on Sunday in Kunduz city, the capital of Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province.

"The plant with a capacity of processing 110 tons cotton in 24 hours could provide job opportunities for hundreds of people," head of agriculture department in the province, Mawlawi Amanullah, said at the reopening ceremony.

He also called on business people to invest in Kunduz and other areas of Afghanistan so as to provide job opportunities and contribute to poverty alleviation.

Payenda Mohammad, from the management of the factory, said the plant also produces cooking oil and soaps, adding that more than 150 people are currently working at the plant and the number of workers will rise in the future.
