TONGCHUAN, China, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Led by the 2021 CBA All-Star starting lineup, Liaoning won the men's U22 basketball competition opener at the 14th National Games, trouncing hosts Shaanxi 98-58 here on Tuesday.
Zhou Qi, Guo Ailun, Han Dejun, Zhao Jiwei and Zhang Zhenlin - all of whom started for the North Conference at the 2021 CBA All-Star Game - were a cut above Shaanxi, whose team consisted of players from the second-tier NBL and college league CUBA. Liaoning led by as many as 30 points in the first half to confirm their domination.
Guangdong also pocketed an easy 84-68 win over Shandong as national team captain Zhou Peng led other CBA players like Shen Zijie, Zhao Rui and Hu Mingxuan.
Each team is allowed to field four players aged over 22 in this tournament.
Last season's CBA MVP Wu Qian led Zhejiang to beat Tianjin 98-74 with 27 points, while Beijing defeated Hubei 72-64.
The eight teams are divided into two groups, with top two teams of each group advancing to the semifinals. Enditem
