BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a high-level security-and-defense platform for international exchanges, will hold online workshops on Oct. 25 and 26, according to China's Ministry of National Defense.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, the full 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which was due to be held last year, remains postponed, Wu Qian, a spokesperson with the ministry, told a press conference Thursday.

Wu said the workshops next month will focus on the theme of promoting global security governance by following cooperation and mutual benefit.

The event consists of six panels, which will cover topics including security in the Asia Pacific, multilateralism and the international system, small and medium-sized countries' role in global security, the situation in Afghanistan, strategic stability, and international security cooperation under the impact of COVID-19, Wu said.

By promoting exchanges among experts from various parties on key global issues, the event aims to help contribute to safeguarding peace and stability in the international community, Wu added.

Initiated in 2006, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum is dedicated to promoting exchanges and cooperation among defense authorities, armed forces, international organizations and scholars. Enditem
