Land-sea freight transport from China's Chongqing surges in Jan.-Sept.

CHONGQING, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has witnessed 1,493 rail-sea freight trips in the first three quarters of 2021, up 77 percent year on year, surpassing the 1,297 trips made in all of 2020, according to the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd.

A total of 75,000 standard containers worth 9.8 billion yuan (about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars) were transported during the period.

"In the first three quarters of this year, the number of trips shipped by major stations in Chongqing increased by more than 40 percent. The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor has reduced transportation costs and improved transportation efficiency for local enterprises," said Jia Jun, deputy director of the operation department of the company.

The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is a trade and logistics passage jointly built by Singapore and provincial-level regions of western China. Chongqing Municipality is the center of operations for the corridor.

The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor has expanded its reach to 308 ports in 106 countries and regions worldwide, and more than 640 kinds of goods are transported. Enditem
