"The Battle at Lake Changjin" continues to lead Chinese box office chart

BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Historical epic "The Battle at Lake Changjin" stayed atop the Chinese mainland box office chart on Thursday, figures released by the China Movie Data Information Network showed Friday.

The film, co-directed by Chen Kaige, Hark Tsui, and Dante Lam and headlined by Wu Jing and Jackson Yee, finished its eighth day of screening with over 387.1 million yuan (about 59.9 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 78.7 percent of Thursday's total.

Set in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953), the film tells the story of the Chinese People's Volunteers soldiers fighting bravely under freezing temperatures in a key campaign at Lake Changjin, or Chosin Reservoir.

Patriotic anthology "My Country, My Parents" came in second with a daily earning of 81.3 million yuan.

The domestic children film "Little Canned Man" ranked third, which generated about 5.4 million yuan on Friday. Enditem
