Vietnam reports 3,636 new COVID-19 cases, 877,537 in total

HANOI, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam reported 3,636 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, including 3,618 locally transmitted and 18 imported, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 1,255 in Ho Chi Minh City, 483 in Binh Duong province, and 390 in Dong Nai province.

The new infections brought the country's total tally to 877,537, with 21,487 deaths, the ministry said.

Nationwide, as many as 798,124 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 1,541 from Wednesday, while over 68.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered, according to the ministry.

As of Thursday, Vietnam has registered a total of 872,811 locally transmitted cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said. Enditem
