TASHKENT, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan's central bank has decided to keep its main interest rate unchanged at 14 percent per annum to suppress inflation, the bank said on Thursday.
The decision aims to "reduce the inflation rate to 10 percent by the end of the year amid accelerating economic growth, the persistence of factors that increase prices in the economy and the uncertainty associated with the degree of their influence," the bank said.
Uzbekistan's real gross domestic product (GDP) growth amounted to 6.9 percent for the first nine months of 2021, according to official figures.
The Uzbek central bank cut the key rate by one percentage point to 14 percent a year ago after a slowdown in inflation. Enditem
