KIEV, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will invest some 2 billion euros (about 2.28 billion U.S. dollars) in Ukraine in 2021-2022, Interfax-Ukraine news agency said on Friday, citing a senior bank official.

Mark Magaletsky, a deputy head at the EBRD in Ukraine, said in an interview that Ukraine will receive about 1.14 billion dollars from the bank this year and the same amount of financing in 2022.

The funds will be distributed among private enterprises, state-owned companies and local governments, Magaletsky said.

The EBRD is one of the largest international financial investors in Ukraine. Since 1993, the bank has earmarked about 17.5 billion dollars for 505 projects in the Eastern European country.

Last year, the EBRD invested some 929 million dollars in energy-saving, infrastructure, agriculture and other projects in Ukraine. Enditem
