Chinese shares close lower Tuesday

BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.32 percent, at 3,521.9 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.15 percent lower at 14,613.97 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.11 trillion yuan (173.44 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.16 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to cloud gaming, small household appliances and Baijiu (a type of Chinese liquor) led the gains, while those related to lithium and national defense led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.24 percent to close at 3,393.71 points.
