DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Huawei Technologies Tanzania has donated an information and communication technology (ICT) laboratory to the University of Dodoma to promote innovative minds in Tanzania and improve the ICT sector in the country.

The ICT laboratory is equipped with modern and advanced infrastructures that can help students to have access to real practical skills that are required in the fourth industrial revolution.

Speaking at the launch of the ICT laboratory Wednesday, the Deputy Minister for Information, Communication and Technology Kundo Andrea commended Huawei for donating the ICT laboratory, saying that it was a game changer toward digital transformation in the country.

By investing in ICT, Huawei and the University of Dodoma are a driving force toward the growth of the country's economy as investing in technical skills was vital as far as the country's 2025 Development Vision is concerned, said Andrea.

He said since its establishment in Tanzania 13 years ago, Huawei has been instrumental in training and nurturing local ICT students through its renowned program -- the Huawei ICT Academy established in 2018.

Tom Tao, Huawei Tanzania's deputy managing director, said his company was well determined to invest in the young generation by imparting them with necessary skills that can help the country get development through digital technology.
