Cuba sees no COVID-19 deaths two days in a row

HAVANA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Cuba on Friday marked two consecutive days with no reported deaths from COVID-19 and only 186 new cases of infection in the past 24 hours.

The country's total caseload was raised to 961,884, while the pandemic death toll stood at 8,299 since the onset of the pandemic, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

In addition, 1,020 Cubans remained hospitalized with the virus, the lowest number in recent months.

The eastern province of Holguin detected 36 new cases, the highest number recorded in the last day, followed by central Camaguey with 35, and eastern Las Tunas with 25.

Cuba has an accelerated mass vaccination campaign underway, with 9.1 million of the country's 11.2 million inhabitants fully vaccinated to date, according to the ministry.
