MOSCOW, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The St. Louis Federal Reserve recommended U.S. citizens to choose a vegan Thanksgiving dinner amid soaring food prices, according to a recent article published by Russian broadcaster RT.
The article published on Monday explained that industries are raising their prices amid increasing costs as a result of "supply chain issues and worker shortages," which have all led to a surge in inflation levels in the country.
Thanksgiving dinners for U.S. citizens would be "an average of 14 percent higher" than last year, said the article, quoting data from the American Farm Bureau.
In this context, U.S. citizens are recommended to buy vegan products, as poultry would cost them twice as much in contrast to a soy-bean based dinner, and the vegan option would provide them with twice as much protein.
Social media users have expressed discontent and frustration with the idea that they need to cut back on spending during the holiday, as they are already facing rising costs for gas. ■
