The improved electoral system in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) is a step in the right direction, said former Pakistani ambassador to China Naghmana Alamgir Hashmi.
After fierce competitions, all the 90 new lawmakers with different backgrounds and political views have been elected to the Legislative Council (LegCo) of China's Hong Kong SAR (HKSAR).
The seventh-term LegCo election last week was the first since the improvement in the HKSAR's electoral system.
It went on smoothly and in an orderly manner, with active participation from voters in Hong Kong.
