BEIJING, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Xue Heng, a former senior political advisor of northeast China's Liaoning Province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) over serious violations of Party discipline and laws, the country's top anti-graft body said on Saturday.
The decision was made following an investigation by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission upon the approval of the CPC Central Committee. Xue was previously vice chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
He was found to have lost his ideals and convictions, betrayed his original aspirations and mission, and resisted a probe by authorities, the anti-graft body said.
Xue was also found to have accepted gifts and money in violation of the eight-point code for Party and government conduct. He failed to report personal information as required, and indulged in the sale of official positions, the anti-graft body said.
Other violations include unjustified business operations, abuse of power, and reckless intervention in judicial procedures and market economy activities.
Xue's actions have gravely breached Party discipline and constitute significant violations of duty-related laws. He is also suspected of criminal offences such as accepting bribes, the anti-graft body noted.
In line with Party regulations and laws, the decision was made to expel him from the Party, confiscate his illicit gains, and hand over his case for judicial proceedings. ■
