Lebanese ski player wins gold medal at 30th Asian Alpine Ski Championship

BEIRUT, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese alpine skier Manon Ouaiss snatched the gold medal Friday at the 30th Asian Alpine Ski Championships, the National News Agency reported.

The championships kicked off on Feb. 23 at the Mzaar Ski Resort in Kfardebian.

Ouaiss ranked first to win the women's title, followed by Atefa Ahmadi from Iran and Alexandra Trotskaya from Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, Zakhan Kuchin from Kazakhstan topped the men's category and Commillion Toktayev of Uzbekistan came in second ahead of Mohammad Sofishimshaki from Iran.

Ouaiss arrived from China a few days ago where she participated in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games scoring 46th in the women's slalom and 54th in the Women's Giant Slalom out of 88 participants at the Olympic Games.

Lebanon had previously organized five times the skiing championship for Junior and Children, in 2000, 2008, 2009, 2016, and 2017 with Lebanon winning many medals.
