TAIPEI, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan on Saturday reported 404 new COVID-19 cases, including 160 locally transmitted infections and 244 imported cases, the island's disease monitoring agency said, adding that both the local and imported cases were daily highs for the year.
Most of the new local infections have been linked to known clusters recently identified around the island, and New Taipei had the highest number of new local cases at 52, the agency said.
As of April 1, Taiwan recorded 1,370 local cases in 2022, the agency added.
To date, Taiwan has reported 24,033 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 16,133 were local infections. ■
