YAOUNDE, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon is deploying additional security forces to universities in its restive Anglophone regions after an improvised explosive device blast injured some students who were attending lectures, officials and police said on Friday.
Horace Ngomo Manga, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea where the blast occurred on Wednesday, said the number of students injured in the attack had risen to 14 and they were all hospitalized.
"We expect additional (security) measures. We are going to call in for reinforcement and the students are going to be much more organized," Manga told reporters in Buea, chief town of the Southwest, one of the English-speaking regions of the country.
"Classes are going on quite normally. There is no panic," Manga added.
A senior police official told Xinhua that security forces will regularly patrol the university campuses while ensuring that students study in serenity. Enditem
