SINGAPORE, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (SIPMM) said on Tuesday that the Singapore purchasing managers' index (PMI), an early indicator of manufacturing activity, remained unchanged at 50.8 in October.

This was despite a trend of slowing growth in the past few months for the non-electronics sector, said the SIPMM, adding that the overall manufacturing sector has now recorded 16 months of consecutive expansion.

A PMI reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below 50 indicates contraction.

Meanwhile, the PMI of Singapore's electronics sector posted a decrease of 0.1 points from the previous month to record a marginal slower rate of expansion at 51.1 in October. This is the 15th month of expansion for the electronics sector. Enditem
