DHAKA, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided a banned militant outfit's hideout in the capital of Dhaka and arrested four suspected extremists, an RAB official said Sunday.
At least four suspected extremists, who are members of the banned Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) blamed for killing and attacking secular writers and bloggers in the country, were detained during the operation at midnight on Saturday, according to Sajedul Islam Sajal, a senior RAB official.
"We've found their (detained persons') involvement in extremism," said the official.
According to him, extremist books and leaflets were seized from the possession of the suspected ABT members in the operation.
ABT was implicated in crimes including some brutal attacks and murders of "atheist bloggers" from 2013 to 2015 and a bank heist in April 2015.
The gang was outlawed in May 2015 days after the bank robbery in Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka. Enditem
