NEW DELHI, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- India's top court on Friday admonished a number of telecom companies and issued show-cause notices of contempt to their top brass over non-payment of dues towards Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR).

The Supreme Court, which had ordered the telecom companies to pay AGR worth 12.88 billion U.S. dollars, summoned the managing directors of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, MTNL, BSNL, Reliance Communications, Tata Telecommunication and others to be present in the court on March 17.

Telecom companies including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Tata Teleservices had approached the Supreme Court in January, seeking modification in its verdict to get more time to pay up. However, the court had rejected their plea seeking a review of its earlier order that allowed the government to collect dues from them.
