Dollar changes hands in lower 107 yen zone in early deals in Tokyo

TOKYO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands in the lower 107 yen zone in early deals in Tokyo on Wednesday.

The greenback sank below the 107 yen line in New York after the U.S. Federal Reserve's surprise interest rate cut to underpin the economy from the adverse affects of the coronavirus.

As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 107.09-10 yen compared with 107.08-18 yen in New York and 108.03-05 yen at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Tokyo.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1177-1177 dollars and 119.68-69 yen against 1.1165-1175 dollars and 119.70-80 yen in New York and 1.1120-1121 dollars and 120.13-17 yen in late Tuesday afternoon trade in Tokyo. Enditem
