CBOT wheat futures higher on rising export sales

CHICAGO, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural futures traded mixed on Thursday morning, with wheat rising over upbeat weekly export sales.

As of 1635 GMT, the most active wheat contract for May delivery was up 3 cents to 5.2125 U.S. dollars per bushel. May corn was down 4.25 cents to 3.8075 dollars per bushel. May soybeans were down 7.75 cents to 8.995 dollars per bushel.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Thursday released its weekly export sales report for the period of Feb. 21-27, pegging net wheat sales at 542,400 metric tons for 2019/20 marketing year, up 42 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior four-week average.

During the same period, net U.S. corn sales were reported at 769,200 metric tones, down 11 percent from the previous week and 29 percent from the prior four-week average.

Meanwhile, net soybean sales for 2019/20 stood at 345,000 metric tons, up 2 percent from the previous week, but down 35 percent from the prior four-week average. Enditem
