Countries worldwide ramping up efforts to combat COVID-19

BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Seven more countries have seen local transmission of COVID-19, bringing the number of countries and regions where local transmission emerged to 53 in addition to China, according to the daily situation report on COVID-19 released by the World Health Organization (WHO) Sunday evening.

A total of 105,586 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide as of 10:00 CET on Sunday, an increase of 3,656 infections from the previous day, including 3,610 new cases outside China.

As for the Chinese mainland, it on Sunday reported four new imported cases of the novel coronavirus disease, bringing the total number of imported cases to 67. A total of 1,535 patients of COVID-19 were discharged from hospital after recovery Sunday on the Chinese mainland. In total, 58,600 patients had been discharged from hospital by the end of Sunday.
