ALGIERS, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The Algerian flag carrier Air Algerie announced on Wednesday the suspension of its flights to the Italian capital of Rome until April 15 due to COVID-19.

The national airline had suspended flights to another Italian city of Milan due to the spread of the novel coronavirus there.

Air Algerie said in a statement that until mid-April, the airline will no longer schedule flights to Italy, a country badly hit by the virus.

The state-owned company had already suspended flights to several destinations worldwide, as part of precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19.
