BEIJING, March 13 (Xinhua) -- A total of 132,567 cases of the novel coronavirus have been confirmed worldwide in 123 countries, areas or territories as of 0500 GMT Friday, and the death toll has reached 4,947, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The latest updates on the development of the novel coronavirus epidemic in the world are as follows:
NUR-SULTAN -- Kazakhstan's health authorities confirmed the country's first two cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
The two Kazakh citizens, who had separately returned from Germany, have tested positive for the virus and are staying in an infectious disease hospital in Almaty, Kazakh Healthcare Minister Yelzhan Birtanov told a briefing here.
COPENHAGEN -- The Danish parliament passed emergency epidemic legislation before midnight on Thursday, giving the government far-reaching powers to contain the COVID-19 spread.
According to the new legislation, the authorities are able to ban all public gatherings of more than 100 people in the country.
NAIROBI-- Kenya's Health Ministry announced on Friday the country's first case of COVID-19, making it the 15th African nation to report an infection.
The patient is a female Kenyan citizen who returned to the country recently from the United States via London, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry Mutahi Kagwe said at a news briefing in the capital city of Nairobi.

UNITED NATIONS -- A delegate from the permanent mission of the Philippines to the United Nations has tested positive for COVID-19, the first known case at the UN headquarters in New York, a UN spokesman said Thursday.

OTTAWA -- Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be in isolation for two weeks after his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, tested positive for COVID-19, the Prime Minister's Office said Thursday.
The prime minister exhibits no symptoms of the virus, said the office in a statement, adding that "he will be in isolation for a planned period of 14 days," but will not be tested "at this stage."■
