HANOI, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced Thursday that it will suspend all international flights until the end of April due to the spread of the COVID-19.

In a notice posted on its official website, the airline said it would suspend all international flights within its network until the estimated date of April 30.

The decision came amid the complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and the policies on entry restriction, and border closures between countries, said the airline.

Specifically, flights to and from Southeast Asian countries including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar will be halted from Saturday, while flights to and from Britain and Japan will be suspended from March 23. Flights from Vietnam to Germany and Australia will be stopped from March 24 and flights returning to Vietnam from these two countries will be halted from March 25, the airline said.

Vietnam has temporarily suspended visa issuance for all foreign nationals for 30 days starting from Wednesday with exception given for entrants for diplomatic or official purposes as part of the efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 epidemic in the country.
