Number of COVID-19 cases in Burkina Faso rises to 207

OUAGADOUGOU, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Burkina Faso has registered 27 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases to 207.

"As of March 28, 27 more paitients have tested positive for COVID-19, in which 22 in Ouagadougou, capital of the country," said The Government Information Service, a government body to publish official information, on Saturday in a statement.

The statement also announced two new death cases and nine new cured cases have been reported on Friday. So far, Burkina Faso's death cases and cured cases stood at 11 and 21 respectively.

Five ministers of the country, the education minister, territorial administration minister, foreign minister, mining minister and trade minister have tested positive for COVID-19. The U.S. ambassador to Burkina Faso tested positive on March 22.

The government on March 20 announced a curfew throughout the territory from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., and a closure of land, air and rail borders.

Burkina Faso reported its first confirmed COVID-19 case on March 9.
