MOSCOW, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Heads of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries on Tuesday urged all nations to stop conflicts and join efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
"We call on all states to maintain international cooperation, strengthen confidence, end all international conflicts and trade wars, and lift unilateral financial and economic sanctions," they said in a statement.
The document was issued after an online conference of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the highest governing body of the EAEU, was held in dedication to the joint fight against the coronavirus.
The meeting gathered leaders of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, all members of the Moscow-led regional bloc established in 2015.
They said in the statement that the fight against COVID-19 should not lead to a disruption of established cooperation ties, cessation of international trade, and investment activity.
The EAEU leaders support the unity of the international community and the stability of the world economy, upholding the principle of free movement of essential goods, including food and personal protective equipment.
