BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

JERUSALEM -- The number of coronavirus deaths in Israel has risen by five since Monday evening, bringing the total deaths in the country to 182, the state's Ministry of Health said Tuesday.
One of the five deceased is a 48-year-old man, a father of 14 who did not suffer from any other diseases. Another deceased is a 100-year-old woman. The total number of COVID-19 patients in Israel has reached 13,883, after 170 new patients were tested positive overnight.

NEW DELHI -- The COVID-19 has hit people at two of the main buildings belonging to the government of India, President's House and the Parliament, official sources confirmed on Tuesday.
A housekeeping worker at the Lok Sabha Secretariat of Parliament of India tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed an official posted with the Lok Sabha Speaker's office.

YAOUNDE -- Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on Monday announced plans to transform eight venues into makeshift medical facilities used for the treatment and follow-up of COVID-19 patients.
The facilities are five football stadiums and three social housing units in five major cities, including the capital Yaounde and commercial hub Douala which have reported most of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the central African country.

NUR-SULTAN -- Kazakhstan has built a makeshift hospital to treat COVID-19 patients in 13 days in Nur-Sultan, the developer BI Group announced on Tuesday.
"The hospital was built in 13 days with a modest budget. It's a great victory for Kazakh specialists and the entire construction industry," Aydin Rakhimbayev, chairman of the board of directors of the BI group wrote on Facebook.

NEW YORK -- Global COVID-19 death toll topped 170,000 on Monday evening, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.
A total of 170,261 people have died of the disease as of 10:40 p.m. Monday (0340 GMT on Tuesday) among 2,475,841 cases worldwide, the CSSE data showed.

BERLIN -- The world-famous Munich Oktoberfest was cancelled this year due to the high risk brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, said Bavarian Minister-President Markus Soeder on Tuesday.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore reported here 1,111 new cases of COVID-19 infection as of Tuesday noon, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
This increase brings the city state's total confirmed cases to 9,125.

LOS ANGELES -- U.S. Air Force announced Monday it joined efforts to contain the outbreak of COVID-19 among sailors from aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, which docked in Guam last month.
According to a press release from the Air Force, the 36th Wing constructed an Expeditionary Medical Support System or EMEDS, on the grounds of U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, where hundred of sailors infected with COVID-19 are being treated.

MOGADISHU -- Somali Health Ministry said on Monday night that the country registered 73 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the national tally to 237.
Health Minister Fawziya Abikar said in a statement that of the new cases, 51 are male while 22 were female.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Tuesday announced the prohibition of the mass exodus tradition, locally known as "mudik", to curb the spread of COVID-19 ahead of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
"Today, I want to announce that 'mudik' will also be banned," the president said in at a limited cabinet meeting via teleconference.
Widodo said the government would set necessary measures to carry out the ban.■
