BEIJING -- Enhancing cooperation is the right and rational choice for Chinese and U.S. enterprises and will help the economic recovery of both countries and the world, a foreign ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.
The two research studies, made in October 2019 and March 2020, show that most U.S. enterprises believe market demand and profits are stable in China. The studies say these enterprises have no intention of leaving China, are opposed to the "decoupling" of China and the United States in terms of economy and trade, and hope economic and trade relations between the two countries enjoy sustained and healthy development.
"The research studies once again demonstrate the strong resilience and mutually beneficial nature of economic and trade relations between the two countries," said Geng, noting that both countries have huge consumer markets and have deeply integrated industrial chains, supply chains and service chains.

UNITED NATIONS -- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday called on parties concerned in Yemen to resolve their differences through an inclusive dialogue.
"The secretary-general calls on all to engage in an inclusive dialogue to resolve their differences and address the legitimate concerns of all Yemenis, including those of southern groups. He further calls on them to implement the Riyadh Agreement as well as concentrate efforts on countering the spread of COVID-19 and responding to the flooding that has affected tens of thousands of Yemenis," Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for Guterres, told reporters in an email.

UNITED NATIONS -- A Chinese envoy on Monday urged the international community to help young people tackle challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and support them in playing a bigger role in advancing world peace and development.
"The impact should not be made neglected. The international community should fully implement relevant Security Council resolutions, stay attentive on the development views, helping them to tackle challenges arising from the pandemic and support them in playing a bigger role in advancing world peace and development," Zhang Jun, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, told the virtual Security Council meeting on the Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Youth, Peace and Security.

GENEVA -- World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Monday urged the European countries to find, isolate, test and treat all cases of COVID-19 while easing their containment measures.
"As lock-downs in Europe ease with declining numbers of new cases, we continue to urge countries to find, isolate, test and treat all cases of COVID-19 and trace every contact, to ensure these declining trends continue," the WHO chief said at a virtual press conference.

OTTAWA -- Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Monday that nearly 10,000 businesses have applied for his government's wage-subsidy program of 73 billion Canadian dollars (about 52 billion U.S. dollars) to deal with the COVID-19 crisis.
Applications opened early Monday morning and the subsidy is available for three months, retroactive to March 15.
"That gives you a sense of just how many people this program will help. Right across the country, it's going to keep businesses and workers connected, and that gives people certainty that they will have a job now, and in the months to come, to support themselves and their family," Trudeau said at his press conference in Ottawa.
