TIRANA, May 3 (Xinhua) -- More than 2,500 Albanian nationals had been repatriated from other coronavirus-hit European countries since April 18, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku said Sunday.
All repatriated Albanian citizens have undergone a 14-day-long quarantine at designated hotels.
In a Facebook video on Sunday, Balluku also unveiled new rules for those who will return to Albania starting from May 4, explaining that they will be required to quarantine either at home or at designated hotels.
According to the new rules, repatriated citizens who reside in so-called "green zones", or low-risk areas, should quarantine at hotels for 14 days. They have to pay seven euros (7.7 U.S. dollars) per day, to cover food expenses.
Repatriated citizens residing in "red zones," or areas with positive coronavirus cases, can choose to quarantine at home or at designated hotels.
Balluku said the compliance with the mandatory 14-day quarantine will be monitored by the police forces.
Currently, the green zones in Albania are the districts of Dibra and Gjirokastra, as well as 10 municipalities including Saranda, Himara, Pogradec and Librazhd. Other eight municipalities will be added to this group starting from May 4.
On Sunday, Albanian health authorities reported six new coronavirus cases, raising the total number in Albania to 795, with 531 recoveries and 31 fatalities. Enditem
