DHAKA, May 11 (Xinhua) -- As the COVID-19 cases continued to rise, the Bangladeshi government has begun ramping up makeshift quarantine facilities in capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
As part of their efforts, authorities in Dhaka have converted a newly constructed market building into a makeshift quarantine zone with a bed capacity of about 1,400.
The number of new COVID-19 infections in Bangladesh rose by 887 on Sunday, the highest daily increase since March 8.
