XI'AN, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Liu Yingzi of Hunan survived a duel with her teammate Wang Shuying to win the women's trap gold in the shooting event at China's 14th National Games on Wednesday.
Liu reached the highest position of the podium with 43 hits from 50 attempts. Wang pocketed the silver with 42 hits.
"My performance is not as good as those younger shooters," said 50-year-old Liu, who is making her seventh National Games. "Maybe it is my experience and luck that helped me win the title."
"I'm satisfied with my performance today," said Wang. "It's my first time to take on the National Games, so I have prepared a lot. I had finished rounds of specific training before the qualification and the final."
Zhu Jingyu, despite missing only one of her first 15 shots, had to settle for the bronze making 34 hits from 40 attempts.
In the men's event, Military World Games winner Guo Yuhao of Hunan, 30, won gold with 47 hits from 50 attempts.
Zhao Yunkai of Qinghai finished the second with 45 hits and Qi Ying of Shandong reached the podium after finishing 34 hits in 40 shots.
"I kept telling myself not to miss any shots in the event, and I made it," said Guo.
"Tomorrow will be a brand new day with new events, so I won't indulge myself in the joy of winning but to be prepared for the upcoming competitions," he added. Enditem
