GUIYANG, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- It is estimated that the added value of the green economy of Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, will account for half of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2025, local environment authorities said Thursday.

The city's energy consumption per 10,000 yuan (about 1,500 U.S. dollars) of GDP decreased by over 25 percent during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) compared with that of the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015), and a green, low-carbon circular economy system has been broadly formed, according to the Guiyang municipal ecology and environment bureau.

In the next five years, Guiyang, China's first national forest city, will take special actions for green manufacturing, carry out green transformation in key industries and fields, and promote cleaner production, energy saving and consumption reduction, the bureau said.

Guiyang has planned 329 green projects with a total investment of nearly 300 billion yuan to promote a comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, according to the bureau.
