Sri Lanka's headline inflation dips to 5.7 pct in September

COLOMBO, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's headline inflation as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) dipped to 5.7 percent in September, local media reported Friday citing data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

Headline inflation in September dipped to 5.7 percent year on year compared to 6 percent in August. Core inflation rose to 5 percent in September compared to 4 percent in August.

The CBSL data showed that food inflation dipped to 10 percent in September from 11.5 percent in August. Non-food inflation rose to 3.8 percent in September compared to 3.5 percent in August.

Sri Lanka spent the month of September under a quarantine curfew which limited movement except for essential services and kept most retail stores shut. Enditem
