Chinese star spiker Zhu Ting will receive a wrist surgery abroad in order to continue her professional career as long as possible.
BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- China's international volleyball player Zhu Ting told Xinhua on Friday that she has decided to receive a wrist surgery abroad.
"The preparations including pre-surgery communications and visa application are progressing step by step. Time will give the best answer," said the star spiker.
During the Chinese women's volleyball team's short journey at the Tokyo Olympics, the defending champion's key player Zhu Ting played painfully with her chronic wrist injury, but she didn't go to surgery right after the Olympics.
"For me as an volleyball athlete, the therapeutic and recovery plans to the wrist are much more complicated than usual, because playing professional volleyball requires my wrist to have good movement, strong combat strength and a flexible angle," Zhu explained.

"Therefore, I must be very careful when choosing experienced doctors and specific therapeutic solutions. Especially with the impact of the epidemic, there are many things to consider and prepare," she added.
The Chinese women's volleyball superstar also said that she has not considered retirement yet.
"I expect to attend the next two Olympics, this is not only one of my goals but also an attitude I should have as a professional athlete," she said.
Zhu was recently seen coaching some children in a volleyball training camp, which gave way to doubts that she may retire soon.
"I think there has no conflict between playing professional volleyball and using my spare time to coach children. If it is possible, I want to stand on the professional court for as long as possible," said Zhu.
