Iran reports 1,361 daily COVID-19 cases, 6,169,011 in total

TEHRAN, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education on Saturday reported 1,361 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infection to 6,169,011.

The pandemic also claimed 41 lives in the past 24 hours, taking the overall tally, since its outbreak in February 2020, to 131,033, said the update by the ministry.

A total of 5,999,860 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 2,909 remain in intensive care units, according to the ministry.

By Saturday, 59,062,256 Iranians have received their first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 50,190,634 of them have taken two jabs. Meanwhile, 3,576,037 people in the country have received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The report added that 40,671,057 tests have so far been carried out across the country. Enditem
