Indonesia reports 164 newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases, 4 more deaths

JAKARTA, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia reports 164 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total cases to 4,260,544, the country's COVID-19 Task Force said on Sunday.

The task force also recorded that 155 people recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,111,619. Four more people died of the pandemic in the past day, bringing the total death toll to 144,002.

Intensifying its COVID-19 vaccinations, this Southeast Asian country has now administered 151,417,878 shots of the first doses, 107,051,563 of the second doses, and 1,268,716 of the third doses.

Indonesia has managed to contain the second wave of virus transmission, which is triggered by the Delta variant, and the country recorded the first patient with the Omicron variant on Dec. 16. Enditem
