Malaysia reports 3,108 new COVID-19 infections, 19 more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported another 3,108 new COVID-19 infections, as of midnight Sunday, bringing the national total to 2,718,955, according to the health ministry.

Some 37 of the new cases are imported, with 3,071 being local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.

Another 19 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 31,092.

About 3,701 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 2,634,381.

There are some 53,482 active cases, 390 are being held in intensive care units (ICUs) and 211 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The country administered 78,205 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines on Sunday alone, and some 79.4 percent of the population have received at least one dose and 78.2 percent have been fully vaccinated. Enditem
