New Zealand reports 28 new community cases of COVID-19

WELLINGTON, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand on Tuesday reported 28 new Delta variant cases of COVID-19 in the community, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country's current community outbreak to 10,320.

Among the new infections, 21 were recorded in the largest city of Auckland, five in Bay of Plenty, and two in Taranaki, according to the Ministry of Health.

A total of 57 cases are being treated in hospitals, including seven in intensive care units or high dependency units, a ministry statement said.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand stands at 13,161 currently, according to the health ministry.
