Senegal's confirmed COVID-19 cases top 900

DAKAR, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action on Thursday reported 51 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number to 933 cases in the country.

Among the 1,161 virological examinations carried out during the past 24 hours, 51 returned positive, Senegalese Director General of Public Health Doctor Marie Khemesse Ngom Ndiaye revealed during the daily COVID-19 briefing.

Nineteen patients have been declared negative and cured, bringing the total number of cured patients to 296, she added.

She also announced two serious cases are still under intensive care in two hospitals in Dakar.

Among the 933 confirmed cases in the country, 738 are follow-up contact cases, 86 are imported cases and 109 are community transmission cases.

Senegal has isolated since March 20 with the suspension of all its international flights, while its curfew has been extended to May 4. Enditem
