DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The East African Community (EAC) on Tuesday launched an online platform aimed at linking young professionals to jobs.

A statement by the EAC headquarters in Tanzania's northern city of Arusha said the EAC launched the online platform through its project called Digital Skills for an Innovative East African Industry.

The statement said the launch of the online platform took place at the region's youth leadership summit 2021 in Arusha.

The online platform links young professionals with businesses for jobs, internships and applied master theses and aims to bridge the skills gap, especially regarding digital skills for the application and development of digital products and services that are needed in the region's industry.

The statement said the EAC Secretary General Peter Mathuki and the German ambassador to Tanzania and the EAC, Regine Hess, unveiled the platform to the public.

"Our goal is to help the youth in the EAC become better skilled to lead transformational change in the business environment under the current trend of digitalization," said Hess. Enditem
