CANBERRA, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Australians are concerned about the economic fallout from COVID-19, a survey has found.
More than 1,000 respondents to the online poll were asked to rate their level of concern about nine specific effects of the coronavirus on a scale from "extreme" to "not at all."
It found that the overall economic impact was the biggest concern, with 77 percent saying they were either extremely or quite concerned and only 4 percent not at all.
Of the top five biggest concerns four related to the economy.
The results were published one day after Mathias Cormann, minister for finance, warned that Australians will lose their jobs as a result of the outbreak.
"Indeed businesses will close and Australians will lose their jobs," he told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday.
