PRAGUE, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic announced new measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 at a crisis staff meeting on Saturday, the government announced.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 in the Czech Republic has risen to 21, with two more confirmed cases on Saturday.
As of Friday, citizens of the Czech Republic are required to abide by a mandatory two-week home quarantine after returning from Italy.
On Saturday, this measure was extended to all temporary and permanent residents. Freight drivers, crews of vehicles carrying patients, and pilots of airliners will have an exception, according to the Czech Ministry of Health.
In addition, there will now be random checks at ten border crossing points where police will evaluate the temperatures of passengers.
Czech police, in cooperation with the Customs Administration, will be distributing information about the virus at border crossing points.
