SARAJEVO, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) reported a notable rise of COVID-19 cases in the past two days after it eased restrictive measures six days ago, according to Thursday's figures from health institutions in Republika Srpska (RS) and the Federation of BiH (FBiH), the two entities of BiH.
The number of new infection cases in BiH increased for two consecutive days, with 82 new cases on Wednesday and 61 new cases on Thursday, fresh figures showed.
So far, BiH had reported 1,757 cases of COVID-19 infection and 69 deaths.
Alen Seranic, the RS Minister of Health and Social Welfare, said that the increase of new cases is a result of citizens not following recommendations and breaching restrictions.
So far, BiH authorities do not call for reinforcing restrictive measures. However, they warn that they will not hesitate to do so should the increase of new cases continue.
FBiH started to ease the restrictive measures on April 24 by calling off the nighttime curfew order as well as the ban of movement of people under the age of 18 and over 65 years of age. In Republika Srpska, trades and services are allowed to reopen since April 27 while other restrictions remained in force. Enditem
